DEFINITIONS Child: Any person 17 years of age or younger in the household of a member Adult: Any person 18 years of age or older in the household of a member Guest: Any person not a member of the club
GENERAL 1. Tennis courts are open for play from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM for use by members in good standing. Exceptions are listed under PRIORITIES. 2. Guests are permitted to play when playing with a member on the same court as the member. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF GUESTS PER MEMBER IS THREE (3). 3. Every player must be properly attired for tennis. Shirt and regulation tennis shoes are required. 4. Persons under the age of 8 are not permitted in the tennis court enclosures unless: a. receiving formal tennis instruction by an authorized instructor, or b. playing tennis with an adult member. 5. Play is limited to two hours when eligible members are waiting to play. 6. Players waiting to play must wait outside the tennis court enclosures. 7. Chairs of any kind are not allowed in the tennis court enclosures. Benches for players’ use are allowed as provided by the Club. 8. Members are held responsible for their guest’s conduct while visiting the club. 9. Usage of tennis court(s) is for tennis play only. ANY OTHER USE OF COURTS, INCLUDING THE USE OF SKATES OR SKATE BOARDS ON THE COURTS, IS SUBJECT TO A FINE OF $50 FOR THE FIRST OFFENSE BY A PARTICULAR MEMBER AND $100 FOR EACH OFFENSE BY SUCH MEMBER THEREAFTER. The Board of Directors shall determine if and when any such fines should be imposed. 10. Vandalism will be prosecuted. 11. Pets are not allowed inside the tennis court enclosures. 12. Glass containers are not permitted within tennis court enclosures. 13. Trash must be disposed of properly. 14. Climbing any fence enclosing club tennis courts is prohibited. 15. Court lights should be turned off by the last member to leave the courts.
COACHING 1. SWC approved tennis coach has priority for using courts 1 & 2. Any member receiving coaching should reserve a court online. The member is restricted to 3 guests.
PRIORITIES 1. Courts 1-4 are reserved on a first come first served basis using the SWC website online reservation system. Courts may be reserved up to 4 days in advance only by members. 2. The club reserves the right to use the courts for USTA and ALTA matches, competitive tournaments and tennis instructions. Such activities are to be posted in advance. Court use by SWC ALTA and USTA teams shall be limited to four courts for all teams participating. Each SWC ALTA/USTA team will be limited to two courts unless the use of a third court is approved by the tennis chairperson and reserved accordingly by him. At least one of courts 1-4 will remain open for member play on days when there is only one SWC ALTA/USTA team playing a match. 3. Members have priority on all courts except: – During league seasons (ALTA, USTA, etc.) – Special events (i.e. practices, coaching, etc.) Membership on any SWC tennis team is open to: • members in good standing as defined by the SWC By-Laws • non-member players may be included per each SWC tennis team, with the approval of the tennis chairperson. • non-member players may use SWC facilities only for home match play and one team practice per week. • a fee, per non-member player, per tennis season, will be assessed. Fee will be payable to SWC. Fee is set by the Board. See League Requirements 4. A Spalding Woods Club member from an ALTA or USTA team playing out of the club is responsible for collecting the assessed fees per season from non-members. Monies collected are turned in to the Treasurer. 5. Only teams (ALTA/USTA) that play out of SWC may use the courts for practice purposes.
Teams that practice but do not play matches out of SWC are in violation of club rules. Failure to comply with this policy results in a fee assessment of $50 (fifty dollars) to the SWC member(s) from that team for each infraction.
League Team Requirements
All ALTA and USTA Teams must be approved by the Tennis Chairman before being entered each league season and must contain a minimum of 7 Members or no less than 50% Members.
The definition of Members is Full or Associate Members. Non-Members playing on such Teams must pay a $50 fee per season. This fee is subject to be revised by the Board.
Team Captains and Co Captains must be Members. Court reservations for league play or league practice must be made only by the Captains, the Co Captains or the Tennis Chairman.
